BMC Teammachine R 01 ONE review: very fast on smooth tarmac, built with incredible attention to detail

Every inch of this race bike is built for speed, with no detail missed to maximise performance

BMC’s pleasingly simple range of road bikes lists just the Teammachine under ‘racing’. The Roadmachine is listed as endurance. The Teammachine range is then split into three groups, the R 01, SLR 01, and the SLR, each available with different builds and specs.

There's a huge amount of clearance either side of the front wheel for aero efficiency. We measured a minimum 9mm gap all around the front tyre.

Both bottle cages have been designed to fit seamlessly onto the frame to keep the lines clean and keep the bidon out of the wind. The rear cutout tracks the wheel beautifully.
